The initial inspiration for a center focused on older adults came from The Crossroads Group, made up of several community and government organizations in the Williamsburg area. The Crossroads Group sought out other like-minded organizations and, together, these groups founded the Center for Excellence in Aging and Geriatric Health. CEAGH became incorporated in 2002. Today, CEAGH is a non-profit organization funded by a coalition of health care, educational, and civic groups. Our research and community involvement continue to grow each year, and, as a result, more and more aging adults are discovering renewed health and an improved quality of life.

The mission of the Center for Excellence in Aging and Geriatric Health is to improve the quality of life for older adults by increasing autonomy and integrating the research capacity of universities, colleges and medical schools with the capabilities of local service providers.  To develop and implement innovative community-based initiatives that can be replicated and sustained.
